SECRET 7"– NEW WORK
Here is my contribution for this year's Secret 7"s that has been created entirely with charcoal pencils. I chose Laura Marling's evocative track titled 'The Beast' and decided to illustrate the 'beast' coming home.
Before I began work on the new original I was contacted by Computer Arts magazine who enquired about including the project in their recent redesign issue. In the print issue you will find a step-by-step process of how I approached and executed the piece, however, in order to give that extra insight we made a stop frame time lapse for the iPad edition.
Hope you enjoy seeing how the piece comes together.
Thanks to Computer Arts for the feature.

ORIGIN AT AIS

.....................................................................................................................................
This Monday morning brings some fantastic news about the future of Origin. After it's stay at the exposure Gallery I am happy to announce that the show has now moved to the office of one of London's top advertising agencies, Archibald Ingall Stretton.
At AIS I have chosen to display selected pieces from the Origin exhibition, which will rotate to keep the walls fresh and reveal my other pieces created specifically for the original event.
A big thank you to Paul at AIS who has made it possible for the show to continue, unfortunately I don't think it's possible to visit the exhibition without an appointment as the pieces are in a fully working environment.

ORIGIN DATE AMENDMENT

There has been an interesting development in the future of my solo exhibition 'Origin' which means that instead of the show finishing on Monday 31st October it will now end on Friday 28th October 2011. I will announce what the future brings for the show shortly, but in the mean time this is the last week to view the exhibition at the exposure Gallery.

ORIGIN REVIEW

My apologies for bit of a quiet week on the blog, it can only mean that I am creating things that I am looking forward to sharing soon. However, I came across this review of my solo show 'Origin' the other day and thought I would share it.
A big thank you to Anna from Arts Thread who attended the private view and for the kind words about the show. To read the review please click on the link below.

ORIGIN PRIVATE VIEW

Last Thursday brought the opening of my first solo exhibition titled, 'Origin'. I am still pretty much speechless from the turnout and all the kind words I received, it's hard to believe after around three months working as hard as I could the time finally came to share it all.
The limited edition postcards and free beer went a great deal earlier than I expected but the fantastic set from Trevelyan Jones seemed to retain people's interest in staying at the gallery.
A massive thank you to the exposure Gallery, Trevelyan Jones, Handsome Frank, Roy Richards, Claire Scully, Pomme Chan, Peter Crawley, Creative Review, Ty Nant, The Celt Experience and to everyone who attended and supported me.
The show will be at the exposure Gallery, 22-23 Little Portland Street, London, W1W 8BU for the month of October. Opening times are Monday-Friday 10am - 6pm.

ORIGIN LIMITED EDITION POSTCARDS

My final surprise for Origin is somewhat of a physical 'thank you' for the attendees of the private view at the exposure Gallery.
I will be signing and numbering a small edition of Origin exhibition postcards to be given out to those who make it to the exhibition at the beginning of the evening (6:30 pm).
It is my way of saying thank you for your support at my first solo exhibition.

ORIGIN COLLABORATION 03 - CLAIRE SCULLY

The third and final collaborator for 'Origin' is the fantastically gifted Claire Scully.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with her work there is a link below that I strongly suggest you look at. The great aspect of Claire's work is that she has a number of ways of approaching an image, but there was a particular style that I liked. Together we were able to create something that made us both happy.
(Little did I know before starting my part it would be the piece that took me the longest to complete out of all the work created for 'Origin'.)
A big thank you to Claire for her time and effort.
If you want to see what was created you'll have to wait until 'Origin' opens on Thursday 6th October at the exposure Gallery.

ORIGIN COLLABORATION 02 - PETER CRAWLEY

Continuing from the previous post the second creative I have collaborated with for 'Origin' is the fantastically intricate Peter Crawley, another talent whose work has astounded audiences everywhere (please see link below). Together me and Peter were able to find a way to subtly combine our approaches to image making based on our love for the analog method of illustrating. A big thank you to Peter for his time and effort.
Again, if you want to see what was created you'll have to wait until 'Origin' opens on Thursday 6th October at the exposure Gallery.

ORIGIN COLLABORATION 01 - POMME CHAN

One of the key reasons for naming my show 'Origin' was to try new things and generally experiment in order to develop my work. With this in mind I asked some of my favourite image makers to collaborate with me and as luck would have it they agreed.
The first was the exceptionally talented Pomme Chan, who I am sure needs no more of an introduction (just incase there is a link to her work below- you will not be disappointed!). Together me and Pomme created a little something that has completely opened my eyes in terms of approaching work. The whole experience was an absolute pleasure for me, a big thank you to Pomme for her time and generosity.
As for more of a sneak peek? I am afraid you'll have to wait until 'Origin' opens on Thursday 6th October at the exposure Gallery.

ORIGIN FEATURED IN CREATIVE REVIEW

A massive thank you to the wonderful Creative Review who have featured 'Origin' in this month's issue. The support is overwhelming and very much appreciated. Here you can see a portrait that will be featured in the show which has never been seen, I can't think of a better way for you all to see it first.
A great issue with an interesting story behind the front cover.
